As requested, the following are my comments on the meeting notes and commentary above:
1 - I think that one-year terms are too short. Reason being that the person would experience only one event (say concours) during their term. No sooner would they gain experience than they’d potentially be turning over their role. I’d suggest somewhere between 18-36 month terms.
2 - Whether the monthly meetings are in-person or virtual, I suggest the following to keep them productive:
a - an agenda be set and sent out in advance
b - some form of secretary/adjutant function be established. The secretary would “run” or facilitate the meeting to keep it on track and to adhere to the agenda.
c - formal notes be taken and decisions recorded. These would be verbally summarized at the end of the meeting and then sent out to the club and/or posted to the web site.
d - I’ll volunteer to assist in this area
3 - To address John’s concern about “who’s in charge”, in the military system, the President is in charge. Period. The Vice acts as a stand-in or backup. However, the two of them decide how they divide and perform the workload. If they keep each other informed of what they’re doing or being asked, they can quickly clear up any confusion on the off chance that happens.
4 - I support Greg for President in case my vote wasn’t captured in the on-line meeting.
